Choose Your Own Adventure – Kelowna

Welcome back to our KF Choose Your Own Adventure series! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be taking a deep dive into each of our six bases across Canada, and exploring what your life and KF career could look like at each one.

Today, we’ll explore the adventures you could have in Kelowna, BC! Kelowna has been the headquarters of KF Aerospace since 1970, and acts as KF’s home base and head office. KF is a well-known and respected organization in Kelowna, and is also the Okanagan’s largest private sector employer with over 700 employees at the YLW base!

If you’re looking for a lakeside lifestyle with a view, read on to learn all the best parts of living in Kelowna:

  • Sunshine and year-round outdoor activities: Kelowna is known for having great weather – it’s one of the sunniest cities in Canada! Kelowna’s warm summers and mild winters make it a great place to be outside in any season. With ample places to golf, swim, paddleboard, kayak, bike, ski, snowboard, and snowshoe, you’ll never get bored!
  • Food and drink: When you think of Kelowna, wine might be the first thing that comes to mind! Not only is Kelowna home to over 40 beautiful wineries, it also has a great food and growing brewery scene. Bottoms up!
  • KF’s home turf: There are some great advantages to working at KF’s largest and original base! The onsite KF-run Convair Café has plenty of delicious food and drink options you can grab during your workday. And for aviation enthusiasts, the KF Centre for Excellence is a stunning aviation museum located onsite, and it’s free for KF employees to visit!
  • Onsite Daycare: The Kelowna Airport YMCA Child Care Centre is located right next to KF, and it has reserved spots for children of KF employees! The Child Care Centre opened in fall 2023 and is licensed for children ages 0-5.
  • Diverse career opportunities: Since Kelowna is KF’s home base, we do it all here. There are always new and unique projects coming from customers around the world, which allows employees to gain experience working on many different types of aircraft. There are also many positions available at Kelowna that may not exist at other bases, such as Supply Chain, Shops, Engineering, and Business Support.
