Expanding Opportunities in Aviation: CCAA’s New Online Structures Training Program Supports Technicians Across Canada
December 3, 2024
This milestone announcement brings great news for Canada’s aviation industry: The Canadian Council for Aviation & Aerospace (CCAA), with Transport Canada’s approval, has launched a much-needed Online Aircraft Structures Technicians training program. For the first time, aspiring Aircraft Structures Technicians can fulfill their acceptable training requirements remotely, making it easier than ever for those in remote or northern communities to pursue careers in aviation without leaving their jobs or homes.
Historically, becoming a licensed Structures Technician required in-person, classroom-based training—a challenge for those working full-time or living far from urban centers. Without local options, many individuals found themselves unable to meet the qualifications needed for licensing. At KF Aerospace, we’ve collaborated with the CCAA over the past five years to help bring this online pathway to life, creating a flexible, affordable, and accessible solution for our workforce.
A Timely Solution for KF Aerospace Employees
This program arrives at a crucial time. Our previous training provider is discontinuing its Aircraft Mechanics course, which KF employees had used to meet the AME licensing acceptable training requirement. Now, KF employees can complete the CCAA Online Structures Program at their own pace, allowing them to gain theoretical knowledge without pausing their careers. The immediate availability of the Structures program—and an anticipated online Mechanics program in early 2025—offers a sustainable path forward for our employees’ growth.
What This Means for the Aviation Industry
The benefits of this online program extend beyond individual convenience. By providing a practical, remote training option, the CCAA and Transport Canada are helping to ensure that Canada’s aviation companies have access to a diverse and skilled talent pool. With this program, employees can meet education requirements while gaining valuable on-the-job experience in the communities they serve, strengthening both regional aviation companies and the broader industry.
Thank You to CCAA and Transport Canada
At KF Aerospace, we’re proud to support this initiative, which reflects a commitment to making essential training accessible across Canada. By removing barriers to licensing, the CCAA’s new Online Structures Training Program will empower a new generation of aviation professionals to thrive and drive our industry forward. The online Structures program is available immediately, and the online Mechanics program will be available in early 2025.
